Vision

Under the Catholic Church the university was extended as a social service with a particular aim of not only to provide and equip students with professional skills but also to equip them with social and civic values. Therefore the church’s vision is holistic development human as a person and respect of human dignity. To achieve so, the Catholic Church has adapted the following as a mission

SAU strives on the following;

·      become a center of excellence in key areas

·      Promote the pursuit and defense of truth

·      Promote service to the country and its people

·      Develop a sense of caring for personal and community resources

·      Facilitate the holistic development of the individual

Therefore from the above overview on St. Augustine University’s mission and vision it is then important to briefly discuss strategic approach adapted by the university’s administration to achieve the mission and vision

Develop curriculums that favor the mission and vision whereby the particular aim is to ensure that a graduate from the university is holistic developed and has respect to humanity but further more they are equipped with values of civic and social learning, the curriculum is regularly monitored to ensure it meets such a demand.

Develop facilities that simplify the learning process for instance with the library well equipped with the current academic and extra curricula materials it ensures that the right service intended to benefit Tanzanians is achieved. The university has also ensured that the main campus and other minor campuses together with the constituent colleges are provided with internet facilities to ensure that the progress made from one point of the institution is quickly and easily adapted by the others, furthermore the expansion projects has allowed the university to enroll a larger number of students in every intake of an academic year.

Integration programs with international universities and training institutions is another strategy adopted whereby the university is in corporation with Cornell university that shares lectureship with the constituent college of health Bugando as a method to ensure that not only students become professional but they are also competent in their fields and competitive internationally.

Develop and Respect core values whereby the university has ensured on maintaining the national identity, cultural values and moral conduct through developing core values and adhering to them in day to day conduct of both students and staff, policies like the dress code, alcohol intoxication, use of offensive languages are strictly prohibited with a specific aim of developing graduates with moral and acceptable vales to the society

financing activities, the mission and vision could only be nothing than a statement in a piece of paper if the university hadn’t taken the first step to finance the activities together with establishment of initiatives to obtain funds, grants and aid for instance with the Saint Augustine University Global Foundation that acts as a umbilical cord between the university and external donors who are great players to the institutes growth and development.

Therefore it is vital to conclude that even though the vision has not been achieved, so far progress is made and with the current strategies, the university has ensured it is equipped well to attain the vision and mission in the desired time.
